Kyla Sokoll-Ward

What do people call me? Kyla

Where was I ordained? American Jewish University

Where am I located? East Bay

Why did you become a spiritual leader and what do you love about Judaism?

I am a mikvah ritualist and have facilitated nearly 1,000 immersions across the lifecycle at the American Jewish University Community Mikvah – the first pluralistic mikvah in North America – of which I was the director for 2 years. I’m now located in the East Bay and am passionate about earth- and body-based ritual that centers our inherent connection to the divine as we transition through the many portals of a lifetime. Mikvah is a profound and wide-spanning ritual and I have guided ceremonies to mark sacred moments including conversion to Judaism, gender transitions, fertility journeys and abortions, weddings, grief, and more.

Are there specific populations, age groups, or folks at a certain life stage who you love working with?

Any and all! I have created individually-tailored rituals for people between the ages of 2 weeks to 80 years old!

What services do I offer?

  • Weddings/partnership rituals
  • Conversion support (Please note that with conversion, at least 1 rabbi must be present for the mikvah ceremony (I am not an ordained rabbi).
