We’re Highlighting the GatherBay Community With Our New Profiles Series

By on April 28, 2023

Since August 2022 when GatherBay opened its “doors” in the East Bay, our community has been steadily growing—much to our delight! With so many community members doing rad things, we thought we’d start up our own interview series to spotlight these amazing “GatherBaes” and their various pursuits, stories, and musings.

GatherBay Profiles is meant to be an introduction to folks you might encounter at a Gather event, around a friend’s Shabbat table, or even on BART en route to a Purim party—who knows when serendipity will strike! Released twice per month, Profiles aspires to celebrate our greatest treasure—the people around us.

The series is edited by Jason Schwartzman, author of No One You Know, a collection of nonfiction about memorable encounters with strangers. Jason lives in Berkeley with his wife, Alexandra, their son, Solomon, and a speedy, sly (yet very sweet) whippet named Stella.

Want to be profiled? Or want to nominate your friend to be profiled? Email info@gatherbay.org with a short note about who the profile would feature. During a casual chat over Zoom or coffee, we’ll discuss everything from what’s fascinating you lately to the Bay’s best-kept secrets to the shape of your Jewish life.

Without further ado…

To kick off our series, we’d like to introduce you to Kira Findling, an intrepid conversationalist who’s not afraid to talk about taboo topics.
